"Differences between tetraploid and diploid seeds were found.
On the tetraploid level, the weight per 1000 seeds was
increased by 58.44% for D. innoxia, 30.25% for D. stramo-
nium, and 46.39% for H. niger. The increase of their length
was 26.71, 21.72 and 10.98%, respectively (Table 1).
Scopolamine was the main alkaloid for seeds of D.
innoxia and H. niger, whereas hyoscyamine was the main
alkaloid for D. stramonium (Table 2). The tetraploid seeds
had considerably higher alkaloid content compared to diploid
seeds. The increase of scopolamine was 2.10-times for D.
innoxia, 2.07-times for D. stramonium, and 1.74-times for
H. niger. Concerning hyoscyamine, the increase was 1.49-,
1.59- and 2.71-times, respectively. Also, the tetraploid seeds
had a higher scopolamine to hyoscyamine ratio for D. innoxia
and D. stramonium, and a lower ratio for H. niger. As a result,
the percentage of scopolamine in the alkaloid mixture rose
from 62.83 to 70.31% for D. innoxia, and from 11.45
to 14.35% for D. stramonium, whereas in H. niger, the
hyoscyamine rose from 24.56 to 33.93%. As a whole, the
alkaloid sum (scopolamine + hyoscyamine) in tetraploid"
Stramonium.
+ hey l-isomeer is veel potenter dan atropine.
