Seven Lima men arrested after two year investigation...
By Doug Jenkins 4/11/06
Seven area men have been arrested in conjunction with an investigation into an interstate drug trafficking ring by the West Central Ohio Crime Task Force and the Federal D.E.A. A total of eight people have been charged with conspiracy to distribute Cocaine, Crack/Cocaine, and Marijuana after a two year investigation. Major Jim Thorburne, with the Allen County Sheriff's Office says this is a significant bust.

Thorburne says he hopes it will serve as a message to other drug dealers in the area.

Sheriff Dan Beck said that the people arrested were a violent group, as two people who were suspected to be involved were murdered in the last two years. The unsolved murder of Marcus Whirl, which happened in April of 2004 in Lima, is believed to be connected to the drug ring.

33-year-old Charles Bailey, 59-year-old Samuel Thorton, 28-year-old Mutee Aki Mayes, 51-year-old Glenn Smith, 26-year-old Jarrett Anderson, 29-year-old Jason Anderson, and 35-year-old Gregory Johnson; all Lima residents, could face 10 years to life in Prison.
